JOURNAL 5   How do you view Critical Literacy now? If you have any comments and suggestions please do so as it helps for the betterment of the course as a whole.   The way I view Critical Literacy now is the complexity I thought would really impossible is actually possible, with strong practices and based form of understanding.   Although I might have been trapped in a certain situation where I feel lost in a certain topic, I continuously thought of practices and consistency do not betray. Thus when I get stuck, it probably means that I could be on the threshold of learning, and it surely will pay off. As Piet Hein once said, “A problem worthy of attack proves its worth by fighting back.” Often, we are not able to focus on the problem offered by that specific subject due to our fear of not being good enough in the subject paired with the large workload, but eventually, it is human nature to be fear things that might against our capability, and that is fine. As much as...

JOURNAL 4 During the COVID-19 Pandemic men are doing more at home, in most households the division of housework and childcare has become more equal. By looking at the statement, the equality of household to be shared by both genders indeed great changes to be count during this pandemic at least . This is because it shows that both women and men play each other roles in living under the same roof. I believe anyone who lives in a home generates mess as part of going through the day, which refers to not only women, but men should be responsible for keeping things clean. Any household involving multiple people requires a division of responsibility. It is in the same league as dividing simple tasks such as laundry, dirty dishes, trash that accumulates in the trash cans, changing baby diapers and more. All these divisions of tasks during quarantine carry out from both genders is indeed a good practice to "bloom" the house together. Below discussed to support on three personal ...

JOURNAL 3 Girls are at gender risk of sexual violence and exploitation. Provide three (3) premises for the proposition. Write in complete paragraphs.  Sexual exploitation and violence are global issues that are particularly alarming in today's world. A report published by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), sexual exploitation is the most widespread form of human trafficking, accounting for almost 79 percent of all cases and it primarily affects women and girls. The following three premises includes culture environmental that practice victim-blaming, girls are underprivileged when it comes to seeking help as well as certain countries that are very poor in legal sanctions. Firstly, cultural environmental  that practice victim-blaming. This is one of the premises that  could lead to huge impacts on one community. It could either becomes somewhat a norm, which when such things as gender exploitation would seem to be is not a big deal anymore. For exa...

JOURNAL 2 Malaysia, once praised by the WHO as ‘united’ against COVID, has gone back into lockdown” is a headline on news online posted on 14th January, 2021 by Max Wouden. What is/are your ‘ assumption(s)’ when you read the statement? Things were all temporarily smooth-sailing when Malaysia announced to had zero cases, yet only until we are currently one out of more than 200 countries battling with thousands of novel coronavirus.  By mid-October, hundreds of new cases were being recorded every day.  Malaysian health authorities were all under concerned about the drastic growing number of coronavirus spread at a rapid rate, involving so many lives and deaths.  My first assumption towards the statement is the efforts put by most Malaysian at the first place should not go to waste. This is because Malaysia had once proven to be under control in dealing with covid19 cases . Comparing to now, it is pretty alarming & saddening at the same time, as if we have ...

JOURNAL 1 You heard comments and maybe grievances from your seniors about Critical Literacy, but what is/are expectation (s) or hope for this course as you are just started?       When I enrolled into this semester, Critical Literacy is one of the course I look forward for. From what I heard in previous batch and seniors, they mentioned that this is one of the course I cannot escape from writing, writing and writing. I responded with a smile probably because I have always had an aptitude for writing, but until I realized that this course to be full of complexity. ‘Critical’ – as the name of the subject itself has shown an insight that it requires highest level of academic thinking skills in literacy (writing). I expect this course to be an absolute check whether students really understand an idea and content presented instead of just "knowing" alone. From what I could tell, students will be challenged with various methods on how to really be impleme...
